Bilingo - Roses Student Award Entry

Bilingo is a language learning course with a difference. The student completes an online personality form and is then matched with a learning partner who can speak the language they want to learn and who is eager to learn the other student’s language. Their personalities and interests are compatible to aid the learning process during and after the course. The students live together for one week in one of Bilingo’s accommodation centres which are located all around the world. During the week the pair are given conversation starter probes, play word games such as charades and complete treasure hunting tasks to encourage their conversational skills. Bilingo aims to teach the students to be able to speak like a local, by learning from a local, during the intensive week long course. Reading and writing skills are focused on during the after care programme where the student continues to complete learning tasks with their partner via the Bilingo video chat website. The students leave the course with confidence in their ability to speak their chosen language and will hopefully have made a great friend who they continue to learn from.
 
The advertising campaign tells the real life success stories of students who have completed the Bilingo course to emphasise just some of the many benefits of learning a second language. A Bilingo brochure is available in all STA travel stores to give information and inspiration to the primary target audience of 18 to 26 year olds. Bilingo also has a strong social media presence to promote the company, allow potential students to meet their own learning partner and to encourage former students to keep in touch.
